Cat 5e/6/7 Data Cabling PDF Print
Active ImageThe most popular type of structured wiring  found in today's business office is unshielded Category 5e cabling. This is the de facto standard used for the popular Ethernet Local Area Network (LAN.) It is much less expensive than fiber optic cable, yet if properly installed, will pass traffic at speeds up to 1 gigabit per second.

While there is talk of a Category 6 and even a Category 7 standard coming soon, Category 5e is today's highest standard for twisted pair. The Electronics Industry Association/ Telecommunications Industry Association (EIA/TIA.) sets these world-side standards. However, many cable manufacturers are not waiting for the new standards to be approved and are building their cable to higher specifications to anticipate the coming changes.

Category 5e represents this new generation of cable. While the original Category 5 standard was built around specifications that would allow speeds of 100 megabits per second, Category 5e cabling promises speeds of up to ten times faster. Unfortunately, since no standards for higher speeds yet exist, data contractors can do no more that certify cable at the old Category 5 standard until EIA/TIA catches up with the market.

In addition to Category 5e cable, a properly structured wiring solution should also include jacks, patch cords, and patch panels that also meet the anticipated standards. A wiring solution is only as good as its weakest component.

IMG_1140.JPGMost importantly, to maximize your investment in data wiring, companies should choose only contractors that have been trained and certified by BICSI. BICSI stands for Building Industry Consultants Services, International, and this organization is charged with educating and training telephone and data professionals in respect to the standards set by EIA/TIA.

bicsilogo.gifTSAChoice has its own RCDD or Registered Communication Distribution Designer. An RCDD has the skills and knowledge to properly design and supervise the installation of the most complex structured wiring system. In addition, all of TSAChoice's installation technicians have been trained and certified on the approved methods for handling and terminating this high-speed media.

Every data cable pulled by TSAChoice is tested and certified in writing to comply with EIA/TIA standards. Detailed results of each cable test are given to the customer so there is no doubt that your network is ready to go. Best of all, TSAChoice guarantees its cabling to be free from problems for 15 years. Just another reason why TSAChoice is the only choice that your company needs to make.
